Testing of Cosmetics for Potentially 1.3 Billion Chinese
 Joint Venture in Peking
established in 2005
Institute Dr. Schrader is the first group of German institutes to set up laboratories for testing and analysis of cosmetics jointly with a Chinese partner in the People's Republic of China laboratories. The joint institute called Beijing Sino-German Union Cosmetic Institute Co., Ltd. began its work in 2005 and is therefore the pioneer in testing of cosmetics in a market in a country where today over 1.3 billion people live.
In August 2004 the Joint Venture was agreed upon after a worldwide search for a suitable partner conducted by the responsible authorities in Beijing. Institute Dr. Schrader's partner is the Chinese Academy of Inspection und Quarantine, which has a 65% interest. The Joint Venture was set up to test domestic and foreign products that need to undergo skin physiological and in vitro toxicological tests.
The skilled staff in Beijing receives comprehensive training before they start work, some of this at the Headquarters of Institute Dr. Schrader in Holzminden. Three experts from Beijing as well as Dr. Andreas Schrader and Dr. Karlheinz Schrader are members of the executive board of the joint undertaking. The Joint Venture is supported by a qualified Advisory Board recruited from the authorities, institutes and the industry.
