Many years of experience and use of state-of-the-art analytical methods for a high quality and product safety

The aim of the Institut Dr. Schrader Ancopharm is to ensure a high level of safety for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. This is achieved through innovative, modern and efficient analytical methods. Tested, assessed and evaluated are raw materials, intermediate products and finished formulations. This includes the use of routine analytical methods (e.g. titration, ph value, density) as well as instrumental analytical methods, which very often have to be developed for special matrices and other unusual problems.

The required validation of these analytical methods are carried out in accordance with the Guidelines of the International Conference of Harmonization (ICH).

Depending on the requirements, the following chromatographic and spectroscopic equipments are available:

  • HPLC (detection systems: DAD, Fluorescence, RI)
  • HPTLC
  • UV/VIS Spectroscopy
Enzymatical analysis and rheological measurements for studying the flow properties of products complete our offer.

Stability testing and long term stability testing of new developed cosmetics and pharmaceutical formulations take a large part of our work.

Participation in round-robin studies guarantees the consistently high quality of our services.

In Vitro Testing for a Safe Future

Identify risks - protect health - support customers, this is what our Toxicology Department is committed to in order to provide customers with forward-looking consulting on consumer protection and innovative product development. This entails assessment of existing and detection of new risks as well as preparing recommendations for risk minimization and product optimization. To do this the Institute uses state-of-the-art methods and links scientific competence on a national and international level. Our Institute obtains the latest findings through a continual exchange of information with experts from scientific organizations (e.g. BfR, ZEBET, ECVAM, ICCVAM etc.) and researchers from renowned cosmetics manufacturers. In the Toxicology Department, modern laboratories are available for conducting contract studies as well as research projects. With its scientific expert reports and recommendations derived from them the Institute advises both cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies on the development of new products.

The main focus of our work in the Toxicology Department is in vitro testing to examine the toxicological profile of new active substances and products, chemical safety including classification of corrosive potential according to OECD TG 431 as part of the new EU chemicals legislation REACH, and safety assessments of cosmetics in accordance with the new EU Cosmetic Directive as well as customer communication. In addition, to fulfill the wishes of our customers, other in vitro tests for evaluation of efficacy, both in the cosmetics area (e.g. proof of antioxidant efficacy) as well as in the pharmacological area, have been included in our test program.

As a contract research institute we not only perform in vitro testing commissioned by customers but also take part in the development of new alternative methods to animal testing as part of national and international research projects.
